Microsoft 365 and server backup, with immutable off-site copies that ransomware cannot reach. Runbooks written before the bad day, and restore tests that prove the copy actually opens.

Everyone has backups. Fewer have restores.

A backup job that reports success is not evidence of anything. The copy can be encrypted along with the original, the retention can be too short to reach past the day the problem started, and the person who knew what order to restore things in can have left. Immutable off-site copies fix the first two. A runbook and a scheduled restore test fix the third.

What gets protected, and how.

Backup is the easy half. What follows is the half that decides whether you are running again on the same day.

  • Microsoft 365 backup: mail, OneDrive, SharePoint and Teams
  • Server and virtual machine backup, on site and in Azure
  • Immutable off-site copies, in a second region, that cannot be altered
  • Retention set to reach past the day a problem would have started
  • Nightly verification, with failed and retried jobs flagged the same day
  • Restore tests on a schedule, with the result written down
  • A DR runbook naming the order, the owner and the expected time
  • Ransomware recovery: isolate, restore clean, and find the way in

What happens on the bad day.

  1. We isolate

Stop the spread first. Affected machines come off the network before anything is restored, or you restore into the same problem.

  2. We restore to the runbook

In the order written down when nobody was panicking, from a copy that could not have been altered.

  3. We find the way in

A restore that does not close the hole buys you a week. The report says what happened and what changed because of it.

Monitored from Base. Planned from Premium.

Backup monitoring runs on every plan, so a failed job is chased whether or not anyone noticed. Disaster recovery planning, runbooks and the scheduled restore tests come with Premium and above. Designing and building the backup estate itself is a project, quoted once we know what has to survive and how quickly it has to come back.

Projects, migrations and build work are quoted separately and covered by the same SLA.

The rest of this group.

The other three in this group. They matter once downtime, waste or a quiet website start costing more than the fix would.

When did you last restore something?

If the answer is not in the last few months, that is the place to start. We test one restore and tell you what we found. No audit fee, no obligation.
